Stuart Milk visits Varese with US Consulate in Milan and Harvey Milk Foundation

Sunday, June 4, at 3 pm Stuart Milk, Harvey Milk’s grandson, Barack Obama’s civil rights and equality adviser and co-founder and president of the Harvey Milk Foundation will visit Varese in a Meeting organized by Arcigay Varese, Consulate General of the United States in Milan and Harvey Milk Foundation.
The initiative, open to the public, will be held at the Wedding Room of Palazzo Estense in collaboration with the Municipality of Varese. Interpreting service will be available:
Milk will answer the public’s questions.
The focus of the meeting will be the work of the Harvey Milk Foundation and a story of the famous Harvey Milk. We will also talk about the situation of LGBT rights in the United States.
Harvey Milk was the first member of openly gay US institutions and was assassinated along with the mayor of San Francisco George Moscone in 1978.
In 2009, Barack Obama gave Stuart Milk to his Uncle Harvey’s memory of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the utmost decoration of the United States, for his fundamental contribution to the homosexual rights movement.
The meeting at Palazzo Estense will be preceded by a visit to the city and a lunch with the volunteers of Arcigay Varese, who have been working for months for the good performance of the event.
